Tandoori Chicken is a marinated chicken traditionally cooked in a tandoor; a cylindrical clay oven over charcoal or wood. We have pre-marinated the chicken, if you can cook over wood or charcoal your taste buds will thank you. We have provided oven instructions for those without tandoors. Squeeze fresh lemon over chicken after cooking and serve alongside raita with rice and dahl.

What’s in it?

Whole chicken

Marinade: ginger, garlic, olive oil, salt, sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, chicken schmaltz, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cumin, coriander, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, fennel, cardamon, turmeric, smoked paprika

How to cook?

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

  2. Place the chicken skin side up in oven roasting tray.

  3. Roast uncovered for 40 minutes. then flip and roast for further 20 minutes.

  4. Remove from oven and loosely cover with aluminium foil for 10 minutes to rest.

  5. Serve chicken with lemon wedges and raita, rice and dahl on side.
